SplashData Announces Enterprise and Government
Edition
of Best-Selling SplashID Password Application
Application Enables Corporate Users to Encrypt, Store and Manage
Critical Passwords, Account Information and Logins
Los Gatos, Calif. – August 21, 2006 –SplashData, Inc., the leading provider of mobile productivity software, today announced the release of the Enterprise and Government Edition of its popular SplashID application for securely organizing and managing passwords, user names and other sensitive records. SplashID currently has over 500,000 users of its consumer versions for Windows, Mac OS, Palm OS, Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone, Symbian Series 60, Symbian UIQ and BlackBerry.
SplashID Enterprise and Government Edition can be customized to fit the needs of enterprise customers. Deployments can be tailored to match an organization's desktop and mobile platform standards, enabling users to easily create strong passwords, preventing users from printing lists of passwords and allowing companies to add its own branding to the application's screens. This new edition of SplashID can help enterprises meet compliance requirements for corporate internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) standards.
Enterprise organizations that have made SplashID available to their employees include Lawrence Livermore National Labs, NetBank and the Getty Foundation.
"Data security is critical to NetBank, and SplashID provides a tailored approach to the security of our employees' passwords," said Barry Miller, Director of Technology Risk and Information Security at NetBank. "To help meet our high security standards, NetBank employees rely on SplashID as a data vault to protect their sensitive login information."
With 256-bit Blowfish encryption, a masking feature and a random password generator, SplashID Enterprise and Government Edition allows employees to securely store user names, passwords, filenames and other confidential information on desktop and notebook computers as well as smartphones and PDAs, including Treo, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices.
Due to the nature of confidential information, government agencies and enterprises have specialized security requirements, such as mandatory frequent password changes, that make keeping track of passwords and logins a headache for many users. According to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team, most people choose passwords based on personal information that is easy to remember. Unfortunately, this makes the password easy for an attacker to guess or "crack."
Organizations frequently ask employees to choose a password that contains letters and numbers and to change passwords regularly, making the passwords cumbersome and difficult to remember. Therefore, many users write down their passwords, list them in an unprotected computer file or spreadsheet or use variations of the same password over and over again. All of these methods create substantial security risks. SplashID Enterprise and Government Edition allows users to keep passwords, logins, and other sensitive information in a secure location that is easy to access at work, home, and while traveling.
"Any organization with applications or services that are accessed by passwords needs an easy way for employees to create secure passwords, change them frequently and not forget them or expose them to thieves and hackers," said Morgan Slain, CEO of SplashData. "With SplashID Enterprise and Government Edition, each employee has a personal encrypted data vault that they can access anytime, anywhere."
SplashID Enterprise and Government Edition is now available on a site license basis or per-seat basis with pricing dependent on the size of the deployment. Smaller organizations can also purchase SplashID via five and ten license packages, priced at $129.95 and $219.95 respectively. More information can be found at www.splashdata.com/enterprise.
