Once the 30-day trial expires, you must purchase a registration code to

code to continue using the software and all of your data will remain intact.

see the release notes.

Your data will remain intact and you won't have to re-enter your registration
code.
Can I download SplashID directly via my BlackBerry

Yes, see the Over-the-air Downloads on the download page:
When I run SplashID 6, it asks me to Merge
users. What does this mean?
SplashID 6 creates a new user database tied to your email address to
provide unified sync across all your devices. So when you run version
6 for the first time, it offers to merge your old users into one new
database in case you had one user for iPhone, one for iPad, 1 for BlackBerry,
etc. In most cases, you will only want to merge one user - the main one
you used in version 5. If the data was the same in multiple user accounts,
then you only need to merge one (main) user, instead of merging them
all and ending up with duplicates. To do this, just select the main user,
click Merge, then Done.
If you have multiple users with different sets of records from each
other and you want to merge them together in version 6, select user 1,
click Merge, then select user 2, click Merge, etc, until you are done
merging users and then click Done.
If you fail to merge the correct user and find your data missing when
you get into SplashID 6, don't worry - you can still import the backup
VID data from the auto-backup folder from version 5:
Windows: Documents\SplashData\SplashID\Backup\<user>
Mac: ~/Documents/SplashID/Backup/<user>/
I just purchased SplashID and need a registration code.
Where do I find it?
When you purchase the software online, an order confirmation email
is immediately sent to you (the email you gave in the purchase form)
containing your registration code. The registration code will begin with
the letters SDXU,
SDBB, SWBB or SWXU. Enter it exactly as it appears, and the trial software
will be converted into a registered version.
I installed SplashID on a new handheld/desktop and
it's asking me for my registration code. Where can I find it?
If you installed SplashID on a new handheld or desktop, you can find
your existing registration code on the old device as follows:
Desktop
Launch SplashID Desktop, then select About SplashID Desktop from
the Help Menu. Your registration code will be displayed in the dialog.
It will start with SDXU, SDBB, SWBB or SWXU.
Handheld
Launch SplashID on the handheld, then select About SplashID from
the menu. Your registration code will be displayed in the dialog. It
will start with SDXU,
SDBB, SWBB or SWXU.
If the above doesn't work, contact
us and we'll respond with your registration code.
SplashID won't accept my registration code.
Why not?
Make sure you are entering the correct registration code, and not your
order number. The registration code should begin with the letters SDXU,
SDBB, SWBB or SWXU. You may want to try entering the code without the
dashes. Also, make sure there are no spaces before, after, or within
the code. Also, make sure you are not confusing your registration code
with your password. The registration code only needs to be entered once.
The password is a word you define and must be entered each time you launch
SplashID.
How much do upgrades cost?
The SplashID 6 upgrade costs $9.95. Because of all the enhancements
that were made in SplashID 6, you will be asked to purchase an upgrade
from your version 4 or 5 license. You can purchase a license from within
the SplashID Safe desktop. You will be asked to do so at launch, but you
can also purchase a license from our website before running it.
The handheld software (for iPhone and iPod touch) is only available
from the App Store, and at this time there is no way to discount
sales through that channel.
Product Upgrades
Updates within a version (e.g., 2.0 to 2.1) are free to all
registered users. Major upgrades (e.g., 2.x to 3.x) are available at
a substantial discount to registered users. If you purchase within 30-days
of a major upgrade you will receive the upgrade for free.
Do I have to upgrade to version
6?
No. You can continue to use version 5.4 on the desktop and sync with
the version 6 on the iPhone. The SplashID 6 upgrade is optional and costs
$9.95.
Can I use SplashID on multiple handhelds and/or desktops?
You may use SplashID on multiple computers/handhelds. The registration
code is not tied to a specific device. The license is per user, so you
may install it on all of the computers/handhelds that you use.
Why is SplashID Safe asking for
my email address during setup?
With version 6, SplashID introduced unified desktop sync, so you can
synchronize your data across multiple mobile device platforms - iPhone,
iPad, Android and BlackBerry. In order to provide simple & secure
unique identification for synchronization, we decided to use your email
address to identify you.
Note: You should use the same email address you used during checkout
to activate your license during setup.
How do I transfer my SplashID
data from my Palm OS version?
1. Launch SplashID Desktop for Palm OS.
2. Select File > Export > SplashID VID and save the records. Password
is optional.
3. Launch SplashID Desktop for BlackBerry.
4. Select File > Import > SplashID vID and select the file you
exported in step 2.
How do I set up SplashID sync?
- Launch the BlackBerry Desktop Software and click Add-Ins.
- Check the box that reads "SplashID Intellisync Add-in."
- On the bottom, click the Sync button to perform
a sync.
How do I make SplashID sync automatically when I connect my
BlackBerry?
You can make SplashID sync automatic by clicking the Auto
Start button in the Intellisync dialog, and checking the Execute Add-In
Actions. Every time you connect your BlackBerry to the computer, it will
sync SplashID.
I am getting the following error
- "Uncaught
exception: java.lang..."
First make sure you have the latest version, using the installation
directions on the Download Page.
If you do have the latest, you may have some data corruption.
- You should first export a backup of your SplashID desktop
data:
- Then quit and delete this folder: My Documents\SplashData\
- Then delete SplashID from the BlackBerry:
- Open the BlackBerry
Desktop Manager, and launch the Application Loader.
- Uncheck
SplashID from the list, then click Next. SplashID will be removed,
and the BlackBerry will restart.
- After the BlackBerry has restarted,
launch the Application Loader again.
- Select SplashID from the
list and click the Delete button, then click Next.
- Now reinstall
SplashID on the BlackBerry, using pretty much the same method:
- Launch the BlackBerry Desktop and double-click the Application
Loader.
- Click the Add button and browse to select this file:
- c:\Program Files\SplashData\SplashID BlackBerry\SplashID.alx
- Scroll down through the list of programs and check the box at
the bottom for SplashID to be installed.
- Click Next and SplashID
will be installed on the device.
- On your handheld, find the
SplashID application and launch. It may be found in the Applications
folder.
- Now open the SplashID desktop and sync the blank data with
the handheld.
- Then import the backed up CSV from the first step
and sync again.
I amgetting an Application Loader
error: The following modules could not be loaded because their digital
signatures were invalid: SplashID.cod
This is most likely the result of a security setting on your BlackBerry
Enterprise Server preferences. Please contact your IT department about
this issue. It is described in this BlackBerry FAQ:
Easiest solution is to download it wirelessly via your BlackBerry Browser
on the device iteself. See the Over-the-air Downloads section of our
download page:
When I try to install the
ALX file, I get a message saying "No additional applications were
found." What do i do?
Easiest solution is to download it wirelessly via your BlackBerry Browser
on the device iteself. See the Over-the-air Downloads section of our
download page:
There are 3 possible causes of this problem:
1. SplashID is already installed, and you need to delete it. To do
this, select SplashID from the list of applications in the Application
Loader, then click the Delete button. Then click Next. Now you should
be able to add the ALX file on the next time around.
2. You need to update your BlackBerry Desktop Manager software. Version
4.3 or later should resolve this issue:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/req_4dot3.jsp
3. You need to update the BlackBerry handheld software:
When I try to sync I gen an error - "Error
connecting to
handheld device. Please reconnect and try again."
This issue was fixed as of version 4.11:
Can I sync SplashID for BlackBerry with a
Mac?
Yes! As of version 5, you can sync with Mac, but it requires Wi-Fi on the
BlackBerry. If your BlackBerry has Wi-Fi, you can download the Mac version
here:
When I try to launch the SplashID
desktop, it says "No
users found."
This typically means that you have not established a sync partnership between
the BlackBerry and the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Please connect your device to the desktop and run the BlackBerry Desktop
Manager to set it up.
Then launch the SplashID desktop and it should use the BlackBerry PIN
as the username.
There are no sample record types in the desktop
application.
To prevent duplication, we only included the sample types on the handheld
application. They will transfer to the SplashID desktop after your first
successful sync with SplashID on the BlackBerry.
To enable synchronization:
- Launch the BlackBerry Desktop Software and
click Add-Ins.
- Check the box that reads "SplashID Intellisync
Add-in."
- On the bottom, click the Sync button
to perform a sync.
Whenever I click on a record in the list
in SplashID Desktop, I hear an annoying beep.
It turns out that this is a bug in Vista, and not in SplashID. Please see this
Microsoft Knowledge Base article on the issue and ways to resolve it.
Alternatively, click the Volume icon in the System Tray and select
Mixer. Then click the Mute button for SplashID.
I am having trouble synchronizing - troubleshooting
tips.
There are 4 main reasons why sync would fail in SplashID for BlackBerry:
- You need to run the application on the handheld once, then synchronize
again.
- You have not properly enabled synchronization with
SplashID. To enable synchronization, double-click the
Synchronize icon in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager:
- On the right side, select "Add-ins."
- Check the box that reads "SplashID Intellisync Add-in," then
click OK.
- On the right side, select "Synchronize."
- Check the box that says "Run add-in actions."
- Click the Synchronize button to perform a sync.
- You need to set the password the same
on the handheld as it is on the desktop. The passwords
must be identical in order to sync.
- The incorrect
BlackBerry PIN is selected in the user menu of the SplashID
desktop. Make sure the PIN matches that which is displayed
at the bottom of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager window
when the device is connected.
Is SplashID compatible with the BlackBerry
Storm?
Yes, version 5 is compatible with the BlackBerry Storm.
There also is an over-the-air version for the device if you
only want to install that:
When I try to sync via BlackBerry
Desktop Manager, I get the error message "Launch SplashID on
the device and try again."
RIM has released a new version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager that
fixes this - 5.0.1 B73. Get the latest update here:
